Featured in Model D article “Detroit Public Schools welcomes blended learning into the classroom,” Matchbook Learning, a nonprofit school turnaround organization, brings blended learning to bottom 5% schools. A.L. Holmes Elementary-Middle School, the first school in Detroit to contract Matchbook’s expertise, is now a reward school after a two year partnership.
For the first time, Wilkinsburg middle and high school students spent a full school day at Westinghouse Academy, where they will attend come fall by means of a partnership between the Wilkinsburg and Pittsburgh Public School Districts. As buses filled with Wilkinsburg students pulled up in front of the school, teachers, administrators, and the Westinghouse drum line cheered energetically the arrival of their future pupils and classmates.
